How I Spent My Week Away

My trip was all too brief: four days in New York, and three days in Vermont. My week merged the big city experience with the fresh breath of autumn in the mountains.

I hung out at some great places:

with V at the Noguchi Museum in Queens

No, I didn't go to Sotheby's. But I did go to an auction preview at Christie's. Highly enjoyable (brushed elbows with the hoity-toity crowd in my sweatshirt and jeans and drank a whole lot of wine).

Saw some old friends:

Saw the city from different angles:

Some things have changed:

new architecture next to Cooper Union

Played tourist:

Ate some great food:

V says I always smile when you put food in front of me

Saw some great art:

V and I love Warhol

I fully expected it to be a week away from the Internet as well, but my days in Vermont were very relaxing, and I had easy access to the Internet. Camroc Press posted another of my teeny tiny poems (very nice!) At about 4 o'clock AM on Friday morning V woke me up because she heard an unfamiliar sound. I couldn't fall back asleep. Soon V was sleeping again and I was alone. My thoughts wandered. I thought about a micro-story in the form of a single question. In the morning I sat down and wrote it (Gone Gone Gone) and posted it as my contribution to #fridayflash. To those of you who read it and left such generous comments, I thank you again.

I'm not ready to go!
